About

I’ve always been interested in old things — furniture, objects, houses — and in the quieter question of how we live with them over time.

My life isn’t about collecting or consumption. It’s about attention, restraint, and learning to recognize what earns a lasting place in my home and life. I’m drawn to things that are useful, steady, and honest about what they are…pieces that settle in easily rather than asking to be managed.

I value reuse, repair, and doing things myself when I can. My 1874 home with almost five acres of garden are ongoing projects, shaped slowly…and imperfectly, guided more by practicality and care than by perfection. Good enough, more often than not, really is good enough.

This site is a place for my writing and observations — about antiques and decorative arts, but also about collecting, continuity, and the satisfaction of living thoughtfully with what we choose.

This is where I write things down as I learn to see more clearly.
